In 2009, Camp Fire had over 1,600 participants in Bannock County. The nature of Camp Fire programs allows youth to join teams with existing friends and enjoy a sports experience in a fun atmosphere, which means all participants get equal playing time regardless of skill level. It also means the children focus on learning the concepts of teamwork and good sportsmanship, in addition to learning and developing their physical skills. This approach to sports encourages healthy self-esteem and confidence in youth, while teaching the value of cooperation and teamwork.
